Registered Social Landlords
Increased need to intensify efforts to identify savings
The place of Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) becomes more and more critical in the drive to ensure better social housing and build new homes for the next generation. Via the 2006 Housing Transfer Programme, 29 new schemes were set up to transfer housing stock to RSLs, with a further 20 schemes help open subject to discussions with the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG). The 2008 Housing Transfer Programme is soon to be announced offering local authorities further opportunities to transfer their housing stock to housing associations.
As RSLs already operate as a business, finance departments will be well versed in the need for supplier categorisation and analyse their spending profile in order to identify potential areas for saving. Spikes Cavell is working with a number of RSLs to deliver insight into their non-pay spend to facilitate the delivery of savings efficiencies and press on with their programme of procurement optimisation.
