This conference, strategically timed for just before the January 2011 deadline, looked into the future of transparency in local government to assess the opportunities and barriers. Delegates had the opportunity to hear from sector leaders, academics and the Government who informed on best practice and future policy developments.

Luke Spikes presentation covered why transparency must be meaningful to mean anything and how to achieve this through publishing accessible, relevant and valuable data for the general public. The agenda also featured a presentation from Cllr Harry Phibbs of London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, talking about how their plans to be Britain's most transparent council and underpinning this with the spotlightonspend managed service.
