Classification delivers insight 

In order to make your spend data more relevant for procurement transformation purposes, we classify your supplier and line item data. Our sophisticated, robust and public sector specific classification methodologies mean we're able to classify your spend data even when the quality and completeness of the source invoice, purchase order or pcard data would otherwise make classification difficult, time consuming and expensive.

Supplier classification is accomplished by matching your creditor file to our third party databases and the Observatory national dataset (1.1m core trade suppliers and rising).  In the absence of any transactional detail, what the supplier does has been proven to be a reliable and robust proxy for what you've bought.   Our strategic alliance with Dun & Bradstreet means we're also able to append a supplier's DUNS number and a whole host of additional attributes to further your understanding of the suppliers with whom you trade.

To unlock the value in your line item (PO) data and render it useful for strategic sourcing purposes, we use an AI based classification engine that is able to infer the UNSPC or eClass classification from the item description and supplier name.
